Ho do I scan?
___________
It's better to use the built in software that comes on the Mac rather than trying to use the scanning feature directly from the computer.
1. Search your computer for "Image Capture". It comes on every Mac and you can find it in the applications folder. You can also use the spotlight search tool (the magnifying glass in the top left corner of your screen) to search for it.
2. After you've opened Image Capture, select the scanner you'd like to use on the left column.
3. If you see a button in the lower part of the window that says "Show details", click it to see more options on the right. If you now see a button that says "Hide details", you're on the right track.
4. Using the options on the right, you can make choices like whether to scan from the feeder or the glass, what quality you want the scan to be, where you want it to go, what you want to name it, etc…
5. Hit scan.
If you are just trying to make a copy of a document then use the printer itself. But for Scanning, it's best to just use Image Capture from your computer.

How to scan multiple pages into one pdf file
21/08/21
I’ve been practicing the scan routine and just realized that I didn’t ask you about emailing a document that is longer than just a single page. Not sure how to do this. Thanks.
___________
You'll want to combine multiple documents into 1 pdf file. There are ways to do this after they've been scanned but luckily image provides a way to allow you to scan several docs then combines them into one pdf file before saving it or emailing.
Use the checkbox seen in the example below to combine all the docs into one pdf file.
Once the document is saved, a good way to tell the difference between a single pdf file versus a pdf with multiple pages is to look for the black rib on the left side of the pdf icon itself. Example below.
If you've already scanned multiple pdfs and need to combine them, there's a way to do that as well but image capture would not play a role in that task.

Hey, My new Apple computer is not set up to my scanner. I need to scan and send some real estate documents. Help🥺
___________
You can use "Image Capture" which comes on every Mac. It's great. You can find it by using spotlight (the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your computer) and typing "image capture". You can also find it in the Applications folder. If your printer has been added previously as just a standard printer, image capture will see it as a scanner as well.

How do I print from image capture?
04/03/19
I'd like to understand how to print using image capture from my computer? Are u able to tell me quickly how to print from email or internet through image capture?
___________
Image Capture is not a program that you would normal use to print a document. Image Capture is a program designed to pull images from a device such as a scanner. It can also be used for other purposes like recovering images from an iPhone. But the major purpose of image capture is to simply scan items with a scanner.
As far as email: to print an image that has been emailed to you, you can double click on the image first. The image will open in the appropriate program. Example: word documents will open in Microsoft word, pictures would open in Preview, PDFs would open in preview. Once Preview is open you can then choose Print from the dropdown menu or command+P will also do it.
Please let me know if you have a more specific question.

Image capture is a part of the Operating system and is on every Mac. Just like Safari, Photos, Mail, or Calendar. You can search for it by click on the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your screen and typing “image capture” or you can also find it by looking in the applications folder. Once it’s open you can right click on the icon in the dock and choose to “keep in dock”. It will then stay in the dock even when you quit the program.
